 You Shine Like Stars Before the World

- 당신이 세상에서 별처럼 빛나리라

“Do all things without murmuring and arguing so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.”   ( Philippians 2:14, 15 , NRSV )

“모든 일을 원망과 시비가 없이 하라. 이는 너희가 흠이 없고 순전하여 어그러지고 거스리는 세대 가운데서 하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로 세상에서 그들 가운데 빛들로 나타내며.”   ( 빌립보서 2:14, 15)

Have you thought of yourself as a star shining in the world at the day of Christ? The apostle Paul thought of the Christians in Philippi in that way. This is an encouragement to all who live for Jesus who strive to be pure and blameless in a world needing hope especially when Jesus comes again. 여러분은 자신이 그리스도의 심판의 날에 이 세상에서 빛나는 별이라고 생각해 보신 적이 있습니까? 사도 바울은 빌립보에 있는 기독교인들을 이와 같이 생각했습니다. 이것은 특별히 예수님께서 다시 오실 때, 희망을 필요로 하는 이 세상에서 순전하고 흠 없이 되려고 노력하는 예수를 위해 사는 모든 사람들에게 격려가 됩니다.  Perhaps one of the deepest felt tensions hindering Christians from shining like stars is the struggle we have possessing peace. When our peace is interrupted then doubts about our relationship with God tend to surface. 아마 그리스도인들이 별처럼 빛을 내는 것을 방해하는 가장 큰 심리적 압박은 우리가 평화를 소유하고 있다는 데에 따른 갈등일 것입니다. 우리의 평화가 깨지면 하나님과의 관계에 대한 의심이 표면으로 나타납니다. Human suffering is a given in this world, but so is the promise of salvation from sin and death to life eternal. Christians have hope in spite of the gloom and despair that world wars have brought, catastrophes of major proportions, and death, disease, and emotional stresses. 인간의 고통은 이 세상에 주어진 것입니다. 그러나 죄와 죽음으로부터 영생으로의 구원의 약속도 주어졌습니다. 그리스도인은 세상의 전쟁이 가져오는 우울과 절망, 파괴, 죽음, 질병, 감정적인 긴장에도 불구하고 소망을 갖습니다. Our salvation results in an inward peace in spite of the turmoil around us. Contentment in Christ and a blessed assurance stimulates light and gathers the attention of people caught in frustration and discouragement. Physical blessings are pleasant and we are grateful for them, but the real motivator is being in Jesus. Having that hope is enough.

우리 주위의 동요에도 불구하고 우리의 구원은 내적인 평화로 귀착됩니다. 그리스도 안에서의 만족과 축복된 확신은 빛을 발휘하여 절망과 실망에 얽매여 있는 사람들의 관심을 사로잡습니다. 물질적 축복은 즐거운 것이고 이것으로 인해 감사드립니다. 그러나 진정으로 격려가 되는 것은 우리가 예수님 안에 있다는 것입니다. 그 희망을 갖는 것으로 충분합니다.

Dear Father, grant me the humility to accept Your comfort and open my heart in acknowledging Your salvation. Use me, O God, as a star shining brightly before the world. 사랑하는 아버지, 저에게 겸손을 주셔서 아버지의 위로를 받아들일 수 있게 하시며 마음을 열어 아버지의 구원을 인정하게 하소서. 오 하나님, 세상 앞에서 밝게 빛나는 별처럼 저를 사용하소서. 저의 삶을 드리고 영생의 선물을 지금과 영원토록 소중하게 붙잡습니다. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
